In this human realm, the Guru or the spiritual preceptor, who helps us and to leads us to victory in our battle with Avidya or our lower nature, is the counterpart of Lord Skanda. The Guru is the personification of Skanda-Sakti. Skanda is the personification of complete Sadhana in this world. The law which has been demonstrated by the Skanda Avatara is, in actual life, brought out by the representation of Skanda in the form of the Guru, by the representation of the Devas or the celestial army in the form of the aspirant who is purified and is prepared to approach Guru and seek Grace. Therefore, saints like Ramana Maharshi, Mahavatar Babaji, etc are referred to incarnations of Lord Skanda. Lord Skanda Himself, the son of Lord Shiva, is said to be the source from which the Shivanetra Lineage originates. Lord Skanda is the icon of spiritual knowledge and heart intelligence.

Kumara Tantra is the body of work that illustrates the powers and invocations of Lord Skanda. This body of knowledge was carried by the Shivanetras from Varanasi to the south of India where the Siddhas not only practised and propagated it, but also carried it over to Tibet. The life story and iconography of Padmasambhava has a striking resemblance to Lord Skanda. Many teachings of Shivanetras therefore, are similar to Tibetan Budhism.

Shivanetra Lineage is in reality a lineage of those with no lineage. The only requisite to be a Shivanetra is love for the Guru, internal or external, and surrender. Life in SKANDA Consciousness is a holistic fusion of Jnana Yoga, Bhakthi Yoga and Karma Yoga. SKANDA Consciousness is Self-Knowledge Awakening Non Dual Affirmative Consciousness.  Spiritual pursuit and a complete experience of life. The Skanda Upanishad in 15 verses describes the oneness of all energies at play in the Universe. There is a unique balance between Satyam and Mithya, absolute and transactional realities, in the teachings of Lord Skanda. All teachings and acticities of Shivanetra Trust and lives of the members of Shivanetra Lineage are guided by the Grace of Lord Skanda Guru Natha and the Divine Mother Sri Guhamba.

There are many kinds of ‘Gita’ and each has got its own special place in a devotee’s heart. Gita is a verse or collection of verses that appeals directly to the human heart. Verse is fluent to recite and easy to memorize. The ‘Gita’s contain instructions or answers given by the learned ones (within or beyond a physical body) to earnest seekers. Gurus of the lineage have received the Skanda Gita through revelations and passed it on to their disciples as commandments. The Skanda Gita is the divine message from the Lord Himself and covers every aspect of human life.

Srividya is an ancient and powerful form of super learning; a direct access to spiritual knowledge. Centering on the Divine Mother Srividya has 3 important components

  • The deity Sri Lalita Maha Tripurasundari

  • Shodashakshari Mantra – Sacred vibrations of universal energies in action

  • Sri Yantra – A geometrical algorithm / Psychocosmogram of the microcosm and macrocosm

Srividya is considered the pinnacle of achievement in spiritual learning. At Shivanetra, we are blessed to follow the Skanda method of Sri Vidya in our work and practises.
